DragonLinux Beta DragonLinux v2r2pre was released as an effort to provide users with a more up to date base system, but was released with much less testing and documentation changes. The installer code has not been updated for this pre-release, so some of the size estimates are likely to be incorrect. This readme is essentially the old readme. Dragonlinux v2r2 utilizes the Slackware package, with no custom changes in this release. You will need the Slackware 8 packages. If you already have the Slackware 8 iso/cd, copy the directories of the "slakware" folder into your \DRAGON\PACKAGES folder, and change the folder names as below:
You can remove leftover folders as the installer will not use them. The installer will simply look inside each of these folders and install all packages it finds there. If you wish to not have it install everything you can remove packages you do not want. You can use the packages from v2r1 as a general guide for a smaller base install. It might be wise to put in the updated packages do you don't have to upgrade as much later on. (See the Slackware Security mailing list for more information) You will then need to download the setup tools. This is the actual code that will do the installation and booting of DragonLinux. If you are familiar with DragonLinux v2r1, hopefully these simple instructions will be enough to give you an opportunity to test out DragonLinux with Slackware 8 pacakges. I hope to be able to have the time to also include the sercurity updates (do get these!!) as well as changes to the install routine. Hopefully an official release will be forthcoming. Thank you for continuing to pester me about getting something out there. Good luck! |
