FAQ

Why DragonLinux?

Ever wanted to try Linux? Heard installation was difficult? Don't want to commit a lot of space to Linux? If so, DragonLinux is the answer. DragonLinux makes Linux easy to try. Installation is very easy. Afraid it will be hard to uninstall? Just delete the directory. It's that easy.

What's included?

DragonLinux is a complete Internet ready Linux operating system. Included are tools for networking with LANs, SLIP, and PPP.  X-Windows with the popular KDE and GNOME window environments. There is the Midnight Commander (mc) file manager, pine for e-mail, lynx for web, and more.

What is a Loopback filesystem?

DragonLinux uses a Loopback filesystem. Essentially, the loopback file is like a partition contained inside of a large file on another filesystem. This allows for utilizing the ext2 (Linux Native) file system, even though it is installed on your DOS/Windows drive. Also, there is very little preformance loss over an actual native partition.

Is DragonLinux based on glibc2 or libc5?

DragonLinux is Glibc v2.1. Libc5 compiled programs should still run as well.

I'm getting unable to mount root fs errors

This can be caused by a few things. First check to see that DragonLinux is properly installed in \DRAGON. Then try booting into "Safe Mode Command Prompt Only" (hit F8 when seeing your "Starting Windows 9x..." message). Another solution that has worked for some users is to add a mem=96M (change the 96 to the amount of RAM you have in your system) to the end of the loadlin.exe line in the setup.bat and dragon.bat files.
